For LSN students, a special career opportunity on National Manufacturing Day
Lee’s Summit North High School students toured local plastic manufacturer, Polytainers, for National Manufacturing Day last week.
The event aimed to help educate students about high-paying, in-demand jobs in the manufacturing industry.
The nationally recognized day also aims to develop and recruit skilled technical workers who can help curb a shortage in manufacturing jobs created by an aging workforce.
Students learned about modeling, labeling and quality control during their Polytainers visit, which the Lee’s Summit Economic Development Council and Chamber of Commerce helped coordinate.
“They enjoyed seeing the process in action, while learning about the career opportunity that exists at Polytainers and other manufacturing facilities,” said Michael Hilbert, who is LSR7’s Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) coordinator. “A day like this will go a long way to helping them to focus their career choices and provide them with a sense that they are more prepared to succeed than they might expect.”
