Inclement Weather Make Up Days
As of now, Lee’s Summit R-7 has missed nine days of school due to the inclement weather in our area this winter. We will be making these days up, according to our district calendar, at the end of the school year. As of now, this makes our last day of school Thursday, May 30, 2019.
According to the state legislature, every school day missed must be made up until you miss the seventh day. At that point, one day must be made up for every two days missed until 14 days are missed. After the 14th day, no more days are required to be made up. So again, this makes the last day of school Thursday, May 30, 2019, in accordance with state law. Although we have missed nine days, we only have to make up eight days at this point.

Additionally, for the 2019-2020 school year (next year), we will be allowed to be more flexible in how we make up our inclement weather days. This includes possibly adding time to our daily schedule to make up for lost days. We will be evaluating that possibility as it is available to us next year.
We will continue to keep you updated on the last day of school if we have more inclement weather days.
Thanks for being in this with us – we know it’s been a lot of missed days!
