Kauffman Foundation awards LSR7 grant for strategic and #R7FutureReady initiatives
The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation has awarded the district a $79,000 grant to support strategic initiatives that increase the number of graduates who leave high school ready for “learning, work and life in the Kansas City region.”
“This work will contribute to our mission of creating solutions that empower people to be successful,” President Wendy Guillies wrote in a letter congratulating the district.
In applying for the grant and during the research portion of the application process, Superintendent Dr. Dennis Carpenter and LSR7 Board member Ms. Jacqueline Clark attended a learning session to visit with other regional district administrators and Board of Education members – all of whom are committed to re-imagining the high school experience and enhancing the Kansas City area workforce.
“We are in the initial phase of planning for boosting the number of market value assets our students can acquire within our schools. This is exciting to engage in this work and partner with the Kauffman Foundation. This partnership, when done correctly, can result in very significant outside investment in our local future-ready schools initiative,” said Superintendent Dr. Dennis Carpenter.
The grant will support our strategic projects in conjunction with our #R7FutureReady initiatives and the Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan (CFMP) process.
