Lee’s Summit Elementary hosts Career Awareness Event
Lee’s Summit Elementary recently hosted a two-day Career Awareness Event that included a dress-up day, assembly, tours of local businesses and a job showcase. Held on May 17-18, the event was designed to help students begin considering their future careers.
Dr. Dennis L. Carpenter, Lee’s Summit R-7 superintendent, spoke to students during the assembly. He told them that sometimes things may seem impossible but students should instead see this word as “I’m possible.”
Business partners from throughout the community presented information about their jobs during the showcase, including representatives from the City of Lee’s Summit, Wayside Waifs, Kansas City Power and Light, City of Raymore and University of Central Missouri admissions office as well as Taylor Hemness, anchor from KHSB 41 news, and Jane Bollin, real-estate agent.
Students also toured Equity Bank and the Lee’s Summit City Hall, both located near the school.
