Lee’s Summit R-7 Board of Education approves purchase of new Chromebooks for grades K-6
As the Lee’s Summit School District continues its mission of giving students one-to-one access to Chromebook devices, we wanted to give you a quick technology update that impacts our elementary school students and teachers. At the Sept. 24 board meeting, the Board of Education approved the purchase of new Dell Chromebook 5190s for grades K-6.
The touchscreen devices, which fold into tablets, have self and world-facing cameras and an optional stylus, have been received positively by middle school and high schoolers who were issued the same model earlier this year. New Chromebooks were approved for grades 9-12 in January 2019, and for grades 7-8 in March 2019.
Elementary students are expected to receive the devices in January. Because students will be receiving their device in the middle of the year, please note that LSR7 will not be collecting a mobile device fee this year from K-6 students, as was previously communicated this summer. The fee will be reinstated for the 2020-21 school year.
