Lee’s Summit West’s Susie Humphreys is Learning for Life Award winner
Lee’s Summit West physical education teacher Susie Humphreys is the October Learning for Life Award winner.
The Learning for Life Award is presented to one employee each month. Winners are nominated by co-workers and selected by a team of employees.
Here’s just a few of the amazing things Ms. Humphreys’ nominators said about her.
“She, literally, saves students lives on the field, court and diamond. She diagnosed sports injuries, rehabs injured athletes, tapes ankles, stops nosebleeds and cleans up vomit. In addition to that, she uses best researched based practices in the classroom to ensure equity for all students. She holds students accountable but loves them at the same time. She is the ultimate professional with all community members, fellow staff members and administrators.
“She teaches a full schedule and still works for another 20-30 hours a week with our athletes. She proves every day that no matter how tired a teacher becomes, the classroom is still the most important. She never lets late nights on the field interfere with her job as a teacher.
“She is present at every varsity sporting event, teaches a full schedule including IB sport exercise science), serves as PE lead teacher and trains teachers in crisis casualty care.”
Congratulations, Ms. Humphreys! LSR7 is lucky to have you.
