LSHS students receive up to $50,000 scholarships from KC Scholars program
Four Lee’s Summit High School students received a visit from KC Scholars this week to announce the college assistance they’ve earned:
- Alyssa Arbuckle, $50,000 scholarship recipient
- Megan Cross, $50,000 scholarship recipient
- Jennifer Garciga, $50,000 scholarship recipient
- Anass Hammoud, college savings account recipient
The Kauffman Foundation based the KC Scholars program on Mr. Ewing Marion Kauffman’s vision to ensure a postsecondary opportunity was possible for everyone, regardless of income, age or ethnicity. Since May 2017, KC Scholars has awarded three annual cohorts of scholars from across the Kansas City metro area. Sixteen of those scholars are LSHS students who earned $50,000 scholarships.
