LSR7 artists showcased at Nelson-Atkins Museum

The LSR7 art community is showcasing its talent at the The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art’s Día de los Muertos Festival.

Approximately 70 art students and four art teachers from Bernard Campbell Middle School, Pleasant Lea Middle School and Lee’s Summit West High School earned spots in the opportunity. The students made nichos, which are small shadow boxes created to honor others.

Open from Nov. 1-14, the exhibit features artwork from the LSR7 students and art teachers Ms. Katie Messick, Mrs. Jewelee Lukowski and Mrs. Phoebe McAlister. Ms. Messick and Ms. Kathy Graves, LSW art teacher and 7-12 art department chair, were also chosen to serve on the museum’s Teacher Advisory Board, which includes just 17 teachers from around the region.
