LSR7 Shares Update on New Jackson County Health Department Orders

Jackson County has announced changes to its health orders that impact our schools in a number of ways.

Revisions to county health orders include the following, as stated by the Jackson County Health Department.

  • Masking and social distancing are no longer required outdoors, although masking is recommended with medium to large gatherings.

  • Small gatherings, indoor and outdoor, of fully vaccinated individuals are permitted without restrictions. Large gatherings are still discouraged at this time.

  • All persons, including those who are vaccinated, must still wear masks in public indoor settings.

  • Social distancing is no longer required indoors, although distancing is still recommended wherever possible.

While we will continue to seek clarity and guidance from our public health partners regarding these new requirements, here’s how these updates immediately impact our schools.

  • Masks are now optional for students and adults when outdoors.

    • Masks are still required indoors at school for students and adults.

  • Social distancing is no longer a requirement in LSR7 indoors and outdoors. However, Jackson County still recommends social distancing as much as possible and LSR7 will also continue to implement social distancing as much as it can.

  • Students will continue to be cohorted at recess, and students will still be required to wear masks on the bus.

  • These revisions do NOT impact quarantine guidance. All individuals who identify as positive for COVID and their close contacts who are not fully vaccinated will be required to quarantine for 14 days from the last day of exposure. (Jackson County, Missouri requires 14-day quarantines) Again, our current quarantine and contact tracing practices are not changing at this time.
