LSR7 Students and Health Organization Chapter Earn Recognition

Students from Summit Technology Academy in the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District and their Future Health Professionals chapter earned recognition from HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America).

Three STA students earned honors on the state and international levels of HOSA:

  • Joy Langum (Lee’s Summit High School), second place in the state for pharmacy science, advanced to the International Leadership Conference
  • Kaleb Gardiner (Lee’s Summit North High School), third place in the state for medical assisting, advanced to the International Leadership Conference
  • Mason Thompson (LSN), fifth place in the state for medical assisting

STA’s HOSA – Future Health Professionals chapter received recognition on the state and international levels for its December 2019 service project. Benefiting the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, the fundraiser raised approximately $300 through selling donated food from Sarpino’s and Neighborhood Cafe.

Kristen Pierson is the HOSA advisor for STA.
