Missouri Innovation Campus Receives Excellence in Architecture Award
The Missouri Innovation Campus recently received the Society for College and University Planning Excellence in Architecture for a New Building Award. This award highlights how using strategic, integrated planning can result in exemplary buildings, grounds, institutional success and careers that inspire.
The Missouri Innovation Campus is home to an accelerated K-16 degree program—a collaboration among the Lee’s Summit School District, Metropolitan Community College and the University of Central Missouri. By engaging business partners and community organizations, the program shortens the time to degree completion and provides job-ready skills highly sought by employers. It also instills entrepreneurial mindsets. The building was designed to help reinforce core competencies that are critical to life after graduation by taking design cues from the workplace to transform conventions about learning environments.
