National recognition for Bernard Campbell Middle School and Lee’s Summit High film students

Film and broadcasting students from two LSR7 schools were honored in the Student Television Network competition, in which students have six days to create videos without the help of their teachers. The students received topics to build their ideas around via social media.

Lee’s Summit High School students Alyssa Eyre and Hope Kelsey took third place in the high school short film competition

Bernard Campbell Middle School students Milo Johnson, Ethan Pack and Leila Potocnik received an honorable mention in the middle school music video category.

“(Our students) received the same song, “Headlights” by Chip, as middle and high school students across the nation, and got to work storyboarding ideas that would create a story that fit the themes of the song,” Bernard Campbell broadcasting and video technology teacher Kenny Taylor said. “They also made use of a camera stabilizing gimbal we purchased last year with funds from a PEAK Grant from the Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation.”

Congratulations to our students!
