Woodland Elementary contributes to Coldwater’s summer lunch program
Woodland Elementary students and staff members recently completed a charitable drive for Coldwater of Lee’s Summit. Through a school-wide collection led by the Woodland Kindness Club, more than 300 pounds of fruit cups, jelly, peanut butter, applesauce, plastic bags, paper lunch bags and spoons were donated to the local food pantry.
The 250 donated items will be used for Coldwater’s summer lunch program. Coldwater is a Lee’s Summit nonprofit organization providing food and clothing to those in need. Summer lunches are included in Coldwater’s No Hungry Kids effort with the nonprofit providing 100 to 150 sack lunches over a 10-week period to two Lee’s Summit neighborhoods.
Woodland Elementary and Coldwater are paired through the Lee’s Summit R-7 Partners In Education program.
