School buses are the safest mode of transportation for getting children back and forth to school. (American School Bus Council, School Bus Facts)
The LSR7 School District Transportation Department is a district-owned fleet of 175 school buses transporting approximately 12,800 students daily. Buses travel approximately 2,000,000 miles annually covering approximately 117 square miles. Transportation services are provided for all eligible students living more than one-half mile from their assigned school. The Board of Education in accordance with state regulations requires all employees driving school buses to be trained by certified personnel, be properly licensed, subject to extensive background screening, random drug and alcohol screening, and in compliance with all state and federal regulations mandated for school bus drivers. We will employ 157 bus drivers, 33 school bus aides and 24 support staff for the upcoming school year. We encourage and welcome parents and patrons of our district to seek employment opportunities to operate our school buses. We have found that people with a vested interest in the students and us communicate have proven to be a great asset to the district as employees.
The LSR7 School District is located south and east of Kansas City and is noted as one of the fastest growing school communities in Missouri. We are currently servicing 18 elementary sites, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, and an early childhood center, along with other vocational, special education and alternative school sites. LSR7 School District boundaries include addressing for a major portion of Lee’s Summit, Greenwood, Lake Winnebago, Lake Lotawana, a small portion of Kansas City and Grain Valley, plus unincorporated Jackson County areas to the east of Lee’s Summit and north of the Jackson/Cass County line.
