The Lee’s Summit R-7 Board of Education has selected a search firm to support their efforts in seeking a superintendent for the 2020-2021 school year. The Board of Education will work with McPherson and Jacobson LLC for assistance during this process.

At the regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, September 25, 2019, the Board of Education unanimously voted to approve moving our 6th graders to the middle school environment, beginning with the 2022-2023 school year. This move will be in conjunction with proposed facility projects relating to the middle school environment through our CFMP work.

The Lee’s Summit School District is now live streaming its school board meetings, starting at the July meeting on Thursday, July 25, 2019.

UPDATE (July 26, 2019):
The agreement has been signed by Dr. Carpenter and Board president Julie Doane, and it is available to the public via this link. The agreement includes provisions under which the parties agree not to discuss the negotiations leading up to the agreement.
The Board of Education approved the severance agreement at the July 25th meeting on a 5-2 vote. Board members Clark and Murdock voted no; board members Doane, Smith, Fritchie, Allen and Hedrick voted to approve.
Other items for clarity:
- The payment of $750,000 is reduced by Dr. Carpenter’s July salary, which he received in the ordinary course of payment.
- The portion of the payment funded by the District’s insurance carrier is $75,000.

The Board of Education of the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District and Dr. Dennis Carpenter have entered into an agreement in principle under which Dr. Carpenter has resigned as the District’s Superintendent of Schools.

Judy Hedrick and Mike Allen were elected to the Lee’s Summit R-7 Board of Education on April 2. Based on unofficial election results, the two winners received the following number of votes: 4,214 for Dr. Hedrick and 4,131 for Mr. Allen.
