Lee’s Summit All-High School Smart Program to host annual ‘Freeze Out’ to benefit local Lee’s Summit charities and the​ ​​​Shoes for Orphan Souls ​program​

Tiger Smart, Bronco Smart and Titan Smart will participate in our annual “Freeze Out” from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. ​7​ in front of Lee’s Summit High School.

Students will remain outside for four hours. During this time, they will collect clothing, especially coats and winter apparel, to be donated to local charities. This year ​an additional focus will be on collecting  donations of ​new or gently used shoes as part of the Shoes for Orphan Souls program. ​Community members are encouraged to drop off their donations at the school’s Building A south entrance, near the tiger head.

LSW Theatre’s Mamma Mia! opens this weekend

Lee’s Summit West High School continues their theatre season this weekend with the Missouri high school premier of the musical, Mamma Mia!  A mother. A daughter. Three possible dads. And a trip down the aisle you’ll never forget! Packed with iconic songs from the legendary group ABBA, an unforgettable story, and hilariously compelling characters, Mamma Mia! will have you dancing in your seat and bringing the music to the streets. If you’ve seen the movie, you won’t want to miss this feel-good show. Mamma Mia! runs November 3, 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. and November 4 and 11 at 2 p.m.  This show is rated PG. LSW Speech and Debate Team Named to Top 100 in National Speech and Debate Association

Lee’s Summit West High School’s speech and debate team has been named one of the Top 100 schools in the National Speech & Debate Association for the 2017-2018 school year. Lee’s Summit West High School ranked 21 out of more than 3,500 schools nationwide.

LS R-7 Semifinalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Lee’s Summit R-7 School District has five National Merit Semifinalists.
