Sophomores from all LSR7 high schools were accepted to the Missouri Scholars Academy, a three-week intensive educational experience at the University of Missouri – Columbia. Our students were selected based upon an aptitude score, teacher recommendations and student essays:
Lee’s Summit North High School sophomore Morgan McGurk was recognized at the 16th annual Lee’s Summit Mayor’s Character Breakfast for her quality of character through her service to family and community. Morgan received the award for responsibility. Her story is featured in The Kansas City Star, Lee’s Summit Journal edition.
Mindy Haesemeyer, LSN’s Student Council adviser, has worked closely with Morgan this year on the group’s student-focused initiatives. “I admire Morgan’s kindness and compassion for others,” Haesemeyer said. “She truly cares for her peers, and advocates for all students to feel welcome in our building and community.”
