The Missouri Innovation Campus and Summit Technology Academy building won the Grand Prize Award in the annual release of the nation’s best education design and construction process showcase through “Learning By Design” magazine. Five education facility design projects across the country were awarded Grand Prize. A distinguished panel of eight architects, education administrators and facility professionals reviewed 72 submissions and selected five Grand Prize Award-winning facilities that “are simply amazing projects.” Each of the five projects combined all the elements that make a learning environment successful—transparency, connectivity, safety, sustainability, great interiors, purposeful functional design and sophistication.

KC For Refugees and Immigrants in Kansas City works to supply computers to families in need. When an area business donated recycled computers, KC For Refugees called Summit Technology Academy (STA) for help.
Summit Technology Academy partnered with KC for Refugees and Immigrants in Kansas City to supply refurbished computers to families and students in need. When an area business donated recycled computers, the students knew they had a unique service opportunity on their hands. The computers lacked hard drives, wireless cards, and an operating system. The job wasn’t easy, but the students and community partners were determined to make refurbished computers available to students and families who needed them. STA International Studies teacher Curtis Cook attributed the success of this collaboration to both students and community partners.
