Recall that in August the Board of Education approved this board priority:
Board Priority Two: Ensure equitable access to future ready learning environments by further engaging stakeholders in the continued implementation of the Comprehensive Facility Master Plan by identifying preK-12 facility projects in anticipation of an April 2020 “no tax increase” bond issue.
As you are likely aware, we have been having conversations about equity work in our school district. We have approved a district-wide equity plan and launched an equity webpage that details goals and timelines associated with the plan. The website also provides access to downloadable data sets, research, executive summaries and presentations. We hope you’ve found these resources helpful in understanding some of our initiatives around diversity, equity and inclusion.
With this, we’re also interested in your perspective around diversity, equity and inclusion. To gather your feedback, we’re again using a tool called Thoughtexchange. All of our voices matter, so your participation is crucial and valued.
This school year, we are engaging families, students, staff, and community members around the development of a new Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan (CFMP) for Lee’s Summit R-7 schools. During Fall 2018, we will ask community members about their priorities around short and medium-term solutions to meet current capacity needs in the district. We will also focus on our community’s long-term vision for developing learning environments that are available to all students and encourage future ready learning.
