Her kids call her Miss Nancy.
And they don’t just adore LSR7 bus driver Nancy Benge because she makes sure they get to and from school safely. “Miss Nancy” is quick to have gift cards and trinkets for her bus riders, many of whom have special needs. She sings on holidays and birthdays. She listens to stories and makes sure days starts with a warm greeting.
Florence McReynolds, an 87-year-old bus aide, had watched Nancy’s efforts with quiet admiration. So recently, she called KCTV5’s Surprise Squad, in which reporters host a TV segment in which the station helps and celebrates deserving citizens who are paying it forward.

As we are concluding the school year, we wanted to share some information with our families regarding our District’s Walk Zone Audit conducted this year and our secondary bus route changes that will go into effect next year. This audit and our route research was conducted in conjunction with our Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan (CFMP) process.
Registering for bus transportation to and from school is part of the online registration process. Please note the following important dates for the transportation enrollment timeline:
Wednesday, August 7: Students must be enrolled through the online enrollment process to receive bus assignment and route information to ride the bus the first day of school.
Friday, August 9 through Monday, August 12: Students who signed up for transportation by the August 7 cut-off date will start receiving their bus number, stop location and morning pick-up time.
Monday, August 19: Students who missed the August 7 deadline will start to be routed. This may take 2-5 days to complete. Parents will need to be prepared to arrange transportation for their student during this time.
